MASKS FOR THE DANCE

The more than 150 tribal masks are an anthology of the extensive Collection Tom van Groeningen.

The masks are part of the rituals during the Phagli festival in Himachal Pradesh in northern India.

Van Groeningen is not an average collector of tribal art. He collects on ethnicity and beauty, and immerses himself in the narratives about Phagli in Himachal Pradesh.

"All my masks have danced," Tom says with a twinkle in his eye.
